Gangland Coaching

Just completed a follow up call with a recent workshop attendee…. We’ve been working with Janet for the last few months on how to maximize results through coaching and engagement.  Janet has not really embraced the process. She relies on telling her team what they should do. Today, she shared that she plans a coaching session with a new employee.  So she and a couple of her managers will sit across the table from this new hire and provide corrective counseling for behavior. Hmmmm….  Can’t wait to hear how this works out!

We do not endorse gangland coaching.  Coaching your team as individuals and individually shows your concern for their wellbeing and success.  It should be an interaction where the coach lowers the guard of the employee and provides supportive questioning that builds on strengths and allows the employee to voice their position.  As we like to say, it’s not about the coach and should be focused on the employee. Obviously this is not possible when the numbers are different than one-to-one.   Our unique Good Finding Coaching model helps facilitate productive conversations while allowing the employee to be “advised” rather than “directed”.  Give us a call at 917-930-0801 for a free consultation on how we can help your team.
